Not Your "Woke" Woman (Not for the Faint of Heart)
So today is National Women's Day. I did check, there IS a National Men's Day too...you know, equality and all that.
I was looking through Facebook, and I saw some terms associated with women that are apparently "woke". I don't even know if I used that properly, and yes, it matters, because grammar is important!
I "woke up" ( pun intended) to some REALLY ridiculous words that apparently refer to women in today's PC, Woke, Liberal, Feminist...anyway you get the idea. In society.
Here are just of few of the gems I procured today:
"Vagina owner". Now. I am not a person who throws that word around. But to show you the ridiculousness of such a phrase I'll give you some examples that directly contradict it. (Because that's who I am.) This term can refer to SO many different things, OTHER than a woman. Pretty much every female creature that I'm aware of (okay I know there are some asexually producing animals, but just go with me here) has a vagina. They would also be a vagina owner. What if there was some very disturbed man who named their pet, or car, Vagina? HE would be a vagina owner. In other countries where women can be "owned" (never in their spirits!), there could be many men that are vagina owners. As you can see, RIDICULOUS.
The next new word I learned was "chestfeeder". Now I'm assuming (which is always dangerous) that they are referring to women who breastfeed. I would not be a woman, then, because I never nursed. I was unable to because I had to get right back on the medication I was taking for Myasthenia Gravis, or I would have been too weak to lift my baby. I DO own a vagina, though, so I'm REALLY confused now. Am I a woman or not?? All baby mammals rely on their mother's milk for survival. So is a male baby monkey a chestfeeder as well, because he is feeding off his mother's chest? Wouldn't he then be a woman? Someone...PLEASE!!! I need some clarification here!
Finally, there are "birthing person" and "menstruating person". I'm glad they added person to these terms, at least. Because I mean, whales birth. They don't menstruate however. (Just googled it, I had no clue!)
I know this post has gone beyond absurd. But I'm trying to make a very particular point:
IS IT ABSURD!!!
Look at these words!!! Come ON. I know some other words to describe women:
beautiful
feminine
soft
curvy
NOT MALE
Or how about we keep it really, really simple, and just call a spade a spade, as they say. (The idiom originates in the classical Greek of Plutarchs's Apophthegmata Leconia. Oh, how I love Google!!) A WOMAN is a biological female.
I am a woman. I am a Mom. I am a biological woman. God created me in the deepest parts of my mother's womb, and knew every molecule of my being before the earth was formed. How can anything be wrong with that?
"I've earned my womanhood and motherhood, and will NOT be marginalized by some nonsense, woke, trendy craze to erase girls, women, and mothers." Lucy Riles
Couldn't have said it better myself.
